We hired AC&R Construction, Plumbing & Electrical to remodel three showers after purchasing our home, with one big priority: making them ADA-safe for my parents who were moving in — while also planning ahead for our own future needs. From the start, Robert completely understood our goals. He recommended replacing our tiled showers with modern enclosures that look beautiful and are far easier to maintain — a win for both safety and practicality. One design issue we hadn’t even questioned was that the original plumbing required you to step into the shower and get wet just to turn it on. Since the tile was being removed anyway, Robert suggested relocating the plumbing, so the water can be turned on from outside the spray zone. It’s such a smart change and makes everyday use far more comfortable. Safety was clearly top of mind throughout the project. AC&R installed thick wood blocking between the studs to create an extremely solid base for grab bars and the shower seat. Everything feels rock solid and gives us complete peace of mind for my parents. The remodel itself was done with care and attention to detail. The work areas were kept neat, and we were consulted throughout the process to make sure decisions aligned with our vision. The finished showers are fantastic — functional, beautiful, and thoughtfully designed. They are the statement piece of the bathroom. Robert and his crew worked with the care you’d expect if they were remodeling their own home. A few tips for anyone planning a project: • Have a clear idea of your needs and priorities • Bring inspiration photos to communicate your style • Ask questions and welcome recommendations — their experience matters We’re truly thrilled with the results and HIGHLY recommend AC&R.
AC&R construction company worked with me on a fairly extensive renovation of a rental property, and while the project took longer than originally anticipated, the scope of work was significant and evolving, and the house ultimately came together into a functional and improved space. The project included interior repainting, repair of age-related drywall issues, replacement of damaged doors, and modifications to existing flooring. Tile flooring had been installed several years prior, but portions of it had to be removed and reinstalled in the kitchen to accommodate new plumbing for a dishwasher. They also coordinated the removal of old ductwork and worked with an HVAC contractor they regularly use to install a new air-conditioning system, which was a major upgrade for the property. A large part of the work involved reconfiguring the kitchen. They installed new cabinetry, worked with me on a layout that fit the existing space, built a new island, relocated the stove to a new wall, added a dishwasher where none previously existed (including trenching through the slab for plumbing), and ran water to the new refrigerator location. Plumbing and electrical were added to the island, and they addressed an unexpected leak that occurred after installation by returning promptly and drying the affected area with professional equipment. They also handled a major functional improvement by relocating the washer and dryer from the kitchen into the detached garage, along with moving the water heater from a deteriorated exterior enclosure into the garage with proper venting. This required running plumbing, electrical, and gas to and within the garage, as well as reworking existing garage cabinets and shelving to make everything fit. A new interior-access door was also installed in the garage. Additional work included new lighting and outlets in the house, power washing and exterior cleanup, and replacement and repair of various small but necessary items throughout the property. They also installed a new sewer line from the house toward the street and corrected an improperly connected sewer line from a previous plumber. This was not a small project, and there were delays and a number of items that needed follow-up. The owner, Robert, remained engaged throughout and stood by the work, returning to address issues that came up after tenants moved in, including electrical and plumbing corrections. While some aspects required extra attention, I appreciated that problems were not ignored and were ultimately resolved. Overall, this was a complex renovation with many moving parts, and the house is now functional, updated, and significantly improved from where it started. Robert was the best part of the project—he genuinely cared about the quality of the work and about making sure it was done right and to my satisfaction, and his ongoing involvement and responsiveness made a real difference.
